About Our School
DETSA KATO SLANTSA
Bulgarian School "Detsa kato slantsa" started operating in September 2020. This is the first Bulgarian school in the state of Connecticut. We created it to teach Bulgarian language, culture, history and geography to children of Bulgarians living in Connecticut, due to the lack of such a school in the state. That is also helpful for parents who would like their children to have the opportunity to continue their education in Bulgaria.
The school uses classrooms in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, which are specifically adapted for the learning process. Each of them is equipped with a board, individual desks, a teacher's desk, and cabinets for teaching materials. In addition, there is good lighting and heating, as well as easy access to the parking lot and toilets, which are on the same ground floor.
The school is recognized by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science which has allocated funds to support it as well as registered as a Bulgarian school in the US.
The mayor of Bridgeport has issued a proclamation for the first year anniversary of the school.

I have graduated from the Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski" with a Master's in Elementary Pedagogy. I have many years of experience as an elementary school teacher in Bulgaria. I love children and it is an enormous delight and joy for me to be with them, and be like them. It an extraordinary fulfillment for me to help children master the Bulgarian language and culture, and ignite curiosity in them about the small beautiful Bulgaria.
